Could the Youth Jobs Grant Help Your Business Grow?

The Government's new Youth Jobs Grant is now available to employers across Great Britain, offering businesses £3,000 per eligible hire when recruiting young people aged 18 to 24 who have been unemployed for six months or more and are claiming Universal Credit. The scheme launched on 30 June 2026 as part of the Government's wider Youth Guarantee programme.

Designed to help tackle youth unemployment while supporting employers with recruitment and training costs, the grant provides funding for roles of at least 25 hours per week that last a minimum of four months and pay at least the National Minimum or Living Wage. 

What does the grant include?

Businesses that successfully recruit an eligible young person can receive:

 - £3,000 per eligible hire
 - Recruitment support from Jobcentre Plus
 - Access to candidate matching services
 - Opportunities to meet suitable candidates before making hiring decisions
 - Support with creating meaningful employment opportunities for young people

The grant is paid in two instalments:

 - £1,800 after 6 weeks
 - £1,200 after 18 weeks, subject to grant conditions being met. 

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to businesses of all sizes, including sole traders, provided they:

 - Operate in Great Britain
 - Have been trading for at least six months
 - Are registered with HMRC and PAYE
 - Offer genuine paid employment opportunities that do not replace existing roles.
